StandMore Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Portable & Versatile
  • Live Healthier
  • More Ergonomic
  • Get Focused & More Done
  • Cost & Space Saving

Cons

  • Lower Surface Area
  • Lower Weight Limit
  • Adaptation Period
  • Can Be Another Bag

StandMore Pros

  • Portable & Versatile: The main thing that makes the StandMore stand out is that it is portable. As it has a compact and lightweight design, you can easily carry and set it up wherever you go at whatever height you desire. Not only can I use it for work, but I have also read on it, written in my journal, and used it as a makeshift table for eating.
  • Live Healthier & More Ergonomically: Do you want to lead a healthier lifestyle? Using the StandMore can help reduce the negative health effects associated with prolonged sitting, such as poor posture, back problems, and a higher risk of obesity. Adjust the height to be at the perfect height for your comfort and ergonomic needs.
  • Get Focused & More Done: The StandMore enables you to get more work done and have a strong presence at meetings, especially if you travel to a hotel room without a desk. Research shows that standing while working can lead to increased alertness and focus, higher levels of creativity, and significantly improved productivity.
  • Cost & Space Saving: Compared to the cost and space of a regular desk, you can’t beat it. The average office desk costs $300-$500 USD, with standing desks on the market being much more expensive. The StandMore is worth every penny at its $200 price point and is designed to fit into cramped hotel rooms or tight workspaces.

StandMore Cons

  • Lower Surface Area & Weight Limit: Compared to regular desks, the StandMore has a lower surface area and weight limit for your stuff. However, I find this to be the right amount of space and stability for what I need to get my work done. My trays are perfect to accommodate my 14” MacBook Pro, Magic Mouse, and Magic Keyboard.
  • Adaptation Period: If you’re not used to standing for many hours in a row, your body will need to adjust to this healthier work routine. It took me a few months, but it was totally worth it. And, the StandMore makes it easy to adjust heights between standing and sitting, so you can gradually work up to standing all day.
  • Can Be Another Bag: It may feel like you will have to lug another bag around with you. And I thought this initially, as the StandMore with its carry bag can be a handful, but after six months of working around the world, the extra baggage is worth it. And I have found that I can easily pack it in a bigger carry-on or checked bag.

When considering a travel standing desk, it’s essential to weigh the StandMore’s pros and cons against your specific needs and preferences to make the right decision.

Quick Verdict – Is the StandMore Worth the Money?

Work on the balcony with a StandMore travel desk

After 500 hours of using my StandMore, I have to say yes, it is worth the money.

For only a one-time purchase price of $200, my cost per hour has dropped to $0.40 per hour. And when you have StandMore, you get:

  • Hours of standing to live healthier and improve your posture
  • Significantly improved productivity and ability to get more things done
  • Adjustable heights to change to the sitting mode when you need a standing break
  • Easy, quick assembly, so you can get to work within minutes of starting your day
  • A portable standing desk that you can take with you anywhere
  • An accompanying carry bag for easy carry and stowage when not in use

It seems expensive, but it’s really not. Suppose your goal is to stand for half of the working hours in a year (assuming 20 hours of standing time for 50 weeks). In the first year alone, that is $200 over 1000 hours of standing time, so you are paying 20 cents per hour or 80 cents per day. That price is worth the benefits for my health and being able to take the desk anywhere!

Don’t expect to be quick with assembly or standing for hours on end at first. But with regular usage, you will be able to set up your StandMore to your desired height in less than a minute and endure standing for the entire day without thinking about it!

And when you combine the health benefits, productivity gains, portability, and affordability, it makes the StandMore a no-brainer. Plus, you can quickly return it if you buy it on Amazon. Why not? You’ve got nothing to lose.

Who is StandMore for?

You’ll love StandMore if:

  • You want to live a healthier lifestyle, be much more productive and focused, and save money while doing it
  • You’re frequently working on travel and get frustrated with hotels with a crappy desk, AirBnbs with no space, or coworking spaces with no available desks
  • You live in a tiny apartment or dorm room and want to have a smaller, collapsible desk to save space and put away when you are not using it
  • You want to easily be able to assemble and disassemble your workstation wherever you want, whenever you want.

You won’t love StandMore if:

  • You are looking for a more permanent, larger desk solution with more space and a higher weight limit for your things
  • You have mobility challenges or conditions that make standing for longer periods of time difficult, uncomfortable, or impractical
  • Your work more with your hands (carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc.) and don’t require a computer and desk setup
  • If you travel ultra-light and are much more of a minimalist that would instead carry the lease about of stuff on the road

What is the StandMore?

What is the StandMore?

What is the key benefit of having a StandMore?

The key benefit of StandMore is its seamless adaptability for travel, space, and productivity. It enables users to effortlessly transform any space into a comfortable standing workstation, enhancing posture, focus, and well-being during travel or at temporary work locations.

What does the StandMore do? What does it come with?

StandMore offers an adjustable height platform (24” to 66” or 60 cm to 152 cm) that accommodates laptops, tablets, and other work essentials. The collapsible standing desk weighs 8.5 lbs or 3.8 kg and fits in a carry bag (6” x 6” x 24” or 15 cm x 15 cm x 60 cm) for easy portability.

Also, it has a tripod base, similar to one used for professional cameras, with adjustable leg extensions, ensuring a customizable height and ergonomic setup. There are two trays for your laptop, keyboard, and mouse to comfortably support up to 15 lbs (6.8 kg) of equipment. For optimal posture, you can stand fully upright with your eyes at screen level and your arms at a 90-degree angle for typing.

How is it different from competitors?

StandMore stands out through its compact design and enhanced customization. Unlike competitors, it prioritizes adaptability, allowing users to adjust height and set up according to their preferences. It’s made from aircraft-grade aluminum for a lightweight build, and its user-friendly assembly makes it a practical choice for individuals seeking a dynamic and health-conscious workspace solution.

Reasons I Recommend the StandMore to Everyone

#1) The StandMore is truly your workspace, your way!

Having a StandMore allows you to work wherever you want, whenever you want. Suddenly, your workspace isn’t confined to your office or home table anymore! You can transform any situation into a personal zone of productivity, especially while on the road.

Here are specific scenarios where I was glad to bring my StandMore to suit the unfavorable environment I was in:

  • I recently stayed in a lovely part of Istanbul at a Hilton hotel. However, when I arrived at my hotel room, it was nice but lacked a proper workspace. If I didn’t have my StandMore, I would have had to work on a table that was also the TV stand and was at a height that was awkwardly too high to work on.
  • I frequently stay with a good friend, Gino, in New York City; however, the apartments are the size of a glorified walk-in closet. Space is hard to come by in major cities, so many AirBnBs and residents probably don’t have a proper table or desk. Luckily, I could whip out my StandMore and work from home while my friend went to work.
  • When I don’t work from home or in a hotel, I love working at cafes and coworking spaces. However, sometimes I arrive at a popular work spot, and there’s no room to sit anywhere. Now, I can enjoy my favorite latte and quickly set up my StandMore to get work done!

Whether at home, on a work trip, or even experimenting in my kitchen, I love having a travel standing desk that allows me to tailor my workspace to suit my environment.

#2) The StandMore will inspire you to live a healthier life!

Optimal posture with the StandMore standing desk

Are you looking for some inspiration to improve your health and posture? Look no further than the StandMore, because you will inspire yourself to be healthier!

In about a month, I have been able to stand for nearly half of the day. And within about three months, I could stand for the entire day! It is incredible that standing more and sitting less made me feel more energized, alive, and ready to take on the day!

And I used to struggle with slouching and some back issues. And after using my StandMore, the prolonged standing and correct ergonomics, I have corrected my posture and reduced my backaches. In fact, after getting my StandMore, others have noticed changes.

And now, my friends and family tell me that I stand up straighter and seem more confident when I walk into a room. What a difference the StandMore has made!

#3) The StandMore will unleash your productivity!

Yes, I’m a productivity geek, and the StandMore definitely works! It has made a whole world of difference in my focus and output. In Deep Work (book summary), Cal Newport talks about the importance of creating an environment that reinforces you doing high-level focused work.

And so, when I am sitting and unproductive, I can unleash the secret weapon of the StandMore to get into deep work mode. By switching from sitting to standing, I find myself more alert and ready to tackle tasks head-on. And in meetings, I feel a higher level of confidence by simply standing and knowing that I am bringing your full attention to that meeting.

Recommending this desk to everyone is a no-brainer – it’s like discovering a new level of productivity and concentration that I didn’t know was possible. And others will notice that you will be the one getting more done and bringing the energy to meetings!

What You Might Not Like about StandMore

Working at a cafe with the StandMore travel standing desk

#1) When loaded with your stuff, you need to be careful changing heights

The desk does tend to wobble slightly, especially when changing heights. However, there is no standing desk that I have found that doesn’t have some wobble. Also, I greatly improved the StandMore’s stability by positioning one of the tripod legs face to face in my direction when using it.

You have to be careful with your stuff loaded onto it when changing heights. So when you first start using the StandMore, I recommend taking your stuff off quickly to switch between sitting and standing heights so you don’t damage any equipment.

After getting more comfortable with height adjustment and standing, I realized I got better and now feel comfortable adjusting the desk height with my stuff on the trays.

#2) If you need two screens, you may need more space

You may be the person that thinks they need a second screen or more room for more stuff. If you need more space or a second screen, the StandMore may not be the right desk.

However, I would challenge you that you may not need a second screen for the benefits you get with portability and productivity. When I started using the StandMore, I got smarter using screen real estate.

I made it work with one screen and even realized that I could be more productive. A second screen can give you an excuse to use the screen for the sake of it. For example, I have put up distracting things on my second screen, including websites, TV shows, or YouTube videos, just because it’s available.

Now, if you need more screens, I have found the three-screen solution works best for this problem. There are fantastic trio screen setups, such as this one, that clip onto the back of your laptop, keep the StandMore balanced, and have USB-C ports that plug right in.

StandMore: Key Features Breakdown

Let’s break down the key features of the StandMore and delve into the details of each feature:

Optimal Ergonomics

The StandMore travel standing desk accommodates at a height up to 6'5"

StandMore offers an adjustable height platform (24” to 66” or 60 cm to 152 cm) that allows for optimal ergonomics or perfect posture for anyone up to a height of 6’ 5” (196 cm). And you can support up to 15 lbs (6.8 kg) of equipment.

The StandMore keeps your laptop at eye level and your keyboard/mouse at elbow height for the optimal ergonomic setup. And you can change heights or between standing and sitting by adjusting and locking the trays and legs in place.

The StandMore travel standing desk improves your posture

An ergonomic workspace is essential for maintaining good posture and preventing discomfort during extended work sessions. It enables you to find the most comfortable height for standing, ensuring better posture and reduced strain on your neck, shoulders, and back.

As someone who struggled with back pain after long hours of sitting, being able to stand all day has been a game-changer. The trays keep my laptop at eye level, reducing neck strain, and the separate keyboard platform helps me maintain a relaxed wrist position while typing. And when I get tired, I simply adjust the height for sitting.

Compact and Foldable Design

This portable standing desk is your ticket to productivity on the go

The compact and foldable design allows the StandMore to be easily folded down and fit into the carry bag (6” x 6” x 24” or 15 cm x 15 cm x 60 cm) for easy transport or storage.

This design feature is a traveler’s dream. It makes the desk incredibly portable, allowing you to take it with you wherever you go. Whether it’s fitting it in your suitcase or stowing it in the back of your car, the compact and foldable design makes it highly convenient.

I often find myself working in different places, from coffee shops to nature to hotel rooms. The compact and foldable design of the desk has been a lifesaver. I can effortlessly carry it around as it is made from aircraft-grade aluminum and weighs 8.5 lbs (3.8 kg). And setting it up takes just a minute. It’s like having a personal ergonomic workspace that’s always by my side.

Final Verdict – to Buy StandMore or Not to Buy StandMore?

Working at a beach with the StandMore travel standing desk

After using the StandMore for the past six months, it is definitely worth the money. It’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made in my health, energy, and productivity.

The StandMore travel standing desk is the solution to having an optimal ergonomic desk setup wherever you want to work. You can easily carry it around in a small carry bag or set it up in less than a minute when you want to get to work! The desk features separate trays for your laptop and keyboard/mouse, so you can stand fully upright and bring the energy to the task at hand!

YES, a portable standing desk may not be for everyone as you may have health issues that prevent you from extended standing or require more space or equipment for your job.

But overall, you can’t argue with the price. If you evaluate the StandMore for what it is—a desk that is portable, helps you be healthy, and improves your productivity—it’s a great value. You know other desks are bulky and cost much more money?

If it were $500, then I’d say it might not be worth it for everyone. But $200 for all those benefits, especially if you move a lot or have little space, is 100% worth it, in my opinion.

For that price, you get a travel standing desk that:

  • You can take it with you anywhere
  • Can set up in less than a minute when you want to get to work
  • Collapses into its carry bag for easy transport or storage
  • Encourages you to be healthier and more productive

StandMore Alternatives

If $200 is too much for you to stomach right now or you need a different solution, you might like one of these alternatives.

#1) Fully Jarvis Standing Desk

The Fully Jarvis Standing Desk is a solid, permanent desk with electric height adjustment, more room for stuff, and decent cable management, catering to those in offices or working from home.

On the other hand, the StandMore Portable Standing Desk prioritizes portability and adaptability for those on the move or in changing work environments.

Verified user reviews consistently praise the Fully Jarvis Standing Desk’s build quality, stability, and durability, solidifying its reputation among those in an office or working from home.

Thus, I would recommend the Fully Jarvis Standing Desk for office professionals and remote workers who require a reliable and more permanent standing desk setup in their workspace.

#2) The Oristand

Another standing solution, the Oristand, is a foldable cardboard stand designed for minimalistic use, providing a temporary and cheaper standing option.

However, the StandMore is more durable, versatile, and better for travel. You get what you pay for as the Oristand can be used on the road, but I would recommend against it.

The Oristand’s primary advantage lies in its affordability and minimalist design, making it suitable for those seeking a temporary or budget-friendly standing option for occasional use. However, users have expressed concerns about Oristand’s durability and stability over time. Its lightweight build and limited adjustability may lead to issues during prolonged use.

Thus, the Oristand is for people looking for an inexpensive, short-term standing solution. It’s suitable for those who require occasional standing periods and temporary travel, but for something that is portable and used more often, go with the StandMore!

#3) Mount-It Compact Standing Desk

The Mount-It model provides a compact, fixed-height design focusing on stability for a dedicated workspace.

On the other hand, the StandMore Portable Standing Desk emphasizes portability and adaptability, which is ideal for users requiring a flexible and versatile solution.

While the Mount-It Compact Standing Desk offers stability and a dedicated workspace, its fixed height limits adjustability. Further, it lacks the portability and versatility that the StandMore offers, potentially restricting users to a single ergonomic setup.

Reviews express concerns about the lack of height adjustability in the Mount-It Compact Standing Desk. Thus, this desk is designed for those primarily working in a single location and who prefer a stable standing desk solution.

Go with the StandMore, as you can similarly sit it on top of wherever you choose!
